Farming for Families, Flavor, and the Future.
Now entering our 14th growing season, Shenandoah Seasonal was founded in 2012 from a life-changing experience in Cambodia, where fresh, local food is woven into everyday life. While living there and managing a center for impoverished children, founders Ali and Dan Haney witnessed firsthand the challenges families faced simply trying to feed themselves. That experience reshaped their understanding of food, community, and nourishment — and ultimately inspired the creation of the farm.
When they returned to the United States, they combined Dan’s agricultural roots with Ali’s background in nonprofit marketing and community engagement to build a farm centered around healthy food and meaningful connection. What began with just $15,000, two dogs, leased land, and a tremendous amount of determination slowly grew season by season. Along the way, they moved the farm three different times — no small task when building soil, infrastructure, and community from the ground up.Today, Shenandoah Seasonal operates across two farms in Clear Brook, Virginia, including the family’s first owned acreage, and is supported by a dedicated team committed to healthy soil, sustainable growing practices, and exceptional organic produce.
We are proud to grow certified organic vegetables year-round, delivering nutrient-dense, freshly harvested food to families throughout the greater Washington, D.C. region. But beyond the produce itself, the relationships we’ve built over the years mean everything to us. Your support of local organic farming allows small family farms like ours to continue growing — for families, for flavor, and for the future.
Four Seasons of Sustainable Freshness.
At Shenandoah Seasonal, we use sustainable and organic practices to grow high-quality produce year-round. Our intensive, raised bed method allows us to achieve high yields on just two acres while enriching the soil with cover crops and organic matter. With the help of high tunnels, we extend our growing season to provide fresh greens even in winter.

Seasonal Bounty
We grow a diverse variety of produce year-round, from spring greens to summer tomatoes and winter lettuces. Our high tunnels let us bring fresh greens to market even during the colder months.
